As most of you guys probably know, Shimano has re-designed many of their spinning reels for 2004.

I was just up at Joe’s Sporting Goods and noticed they are selling off all of the old models at pretty good discounts. (Something you rarely see on Shimano products) I picked up a couple of the Sadona reels for $34 and change. Also picked up a couple Sanora reels for $29. That price includes spooling up with your favorite mono.

Curious if any other stores are cutting prices on the old models?

They are located near Rice and Highway 36. (South of 36 and East of Rice) Just a couple blocks down the road from the Cub Foods store. You can see Joe’s from the highway.

I was looking for some Symetre models as they are selling these at $69.00. Gander at Rochester are already out of them. But when I was looking ats Reeds web page I see the same price or 2 reels for 129.00. You save another 9 dollars on this deal and free freight. Thats a pretty good deal in my book.

Malmo is on the North-East corner of Mille Lacs….

Joe’s had plenty of some, out of others. I think they only had one other Sedona. The Senora is the same reel with 2 Ball Bearings instead of 3.

There were only 2 left at Malmo last weekend, both 2000 series, I bought 2 of the 1000 series and noticed they were all gone when I returned a couple of days later.

Exaclty Jon………..the Sonora is the “old” Sedona before they were upgraded to 3 ball bearings. I too scooped a new Sedona…………..an RA1000 for the light fishing duties at the Gander clearance in Burnsville for about $19.00. Couldn’t pass it up!

Good deal on the Symmetres if you’re into them too!

If we’re talking model upgrades, nearly everyone will be having clearances on them so watch you local Fleet Farm and Walmart stores too! Models are limited but good deals will be had! To this day I think the best bang for the buck Shimano offers is the Sedona series and I’ve been using them for about 5 years now. Not a bad one in the bunch………………yeah, I did say “bunch”. I’ve got more spinning reels than rods again! Guess it’s time to prepare for the winter clearance sales on some good spinning gear so those reels don’t get lonely!

    ……………I need a psychiatrist!

All of the re-designed models were on sale. Not sure of the models, but yes there were some of the better reels on sale.
