Well, I thought I got a good deal this spring, when I bought a 1977, 20hp merc for a mere $150. Tuned it up, cleaned it up and it ran pretty good for the summer.

Well, I launched at Hasting’s public access to chase walleyes on Saturday afternoon. Started her up and she idled fine. After a few minutes of warming up, we headed up the river. I lost a cyclinder (went dead) and I was just going to comment it to my dad, when she got real clanky. Looks like a lost a piston/rod. I haven’t pulled it apart yet, but when you pull the recoil, she is real metal clanky……….NO GOOD!!! (Water was coming out the pee hole, and yes, I mixed my gas correctly). Just an old motor, I guess, that was tired out.

If anyone has any old 20hp mercs that they would like to part out, give me a holler. I’m into this boat really cheap and want to keep it that way for the winter river fishing. I really don’t want to drop $2k on a new motor.

    Gary,
If she’s a-rattle’n, she’s got more than a head problem. But you probably knew that. I sent you a personal EM. Get back to me if you did not receive it. (First one I sent)

Well over the sumer months we were excepted into a program called neighborhood Wilds. It allows for naturalization of neighborhoods including shorelines. We were excepted in June but didn’t get the plans till the beginning of august. Unbenounced to us the program ends 10-31-03. So the program is coming to an end before we had a chance to do anything. We have applyed for an extention and are waiting for and answer on that. The Dakota County Soil and Water said that they have some money but not enough to accomplish all the projects. Hopefully the extention will be approved and we can get started next spring.

On an up note we ( The East Side Improvement Assoc) has had a meeting with the City of Hastings, The DNR, And the county. We all agreed that the grandios plan that we have had to restore the lake is way to expensive for the benefits recieved.
So we brainstormed and came up with some alturnatives that are much cheaper and easier to implement.
We haven’t disclosed the details to the residents so that’s about all I should release at this time. There is still some investigations taking place. We will be holding a neighborhood meeting in the near future to get residents reaction. I think they will be satisfied.

We had a petition being circulated that would hopefully get some money from a program that had some$300 g to spend on environment projects. But I haven’t heard anything about that.

Thanks for inquiring. It’s good to know that there is some interest in the lake outside of the neighborhood.

Heard they have been getting some in Rebecca.
    On minnows I guess.
I haven’t had time to dip a line for the last 2 weeks or so.

Do people still get those monster crappies out of the Isabelle. When I was a kid my dad and I would shore fish down at cowtown and get pig crappies. I haven’t been there in 15 years.

They are still here dispite the condition of the lake.
    should be starting real soon.
If you have fished here before you know the areas to try.
Hate to get some locals mad at me for revealing to much.
    Good luck

Hey Chappy, when you go this winter, drop me a note. It would be good time.

Also, what are they getting at Rebecca? Are they picking up any decent size crappies or sunnies?
