Looking for a T-8

    Ok! Against my better judgement when i bought my boat this spring I bought the T8 with the console control. Does anyone know if this can be turned into a tiller control? If so, where can I find the kit!

    I called the place that had the refurbs last year, and they don’t expect to get any in this year. I’ll keep checking as spring gets closer.

    Does anyone out there run the early nineties version of the T-9.9’s. I have an oppertunity to get one and wonder how they are holding up.

    I have a 1999 with close to 500 hours on it and my friend has a early 90’s that has more. So far this motor just keeps on going. I don’t think you will have a problem, but you might want a mechanic check it out before you buy.

    We change oil a lot and keep an eye on lower lube and plug condition…Oh did I mention I have run Amsoil in mine since it was new.

    From what I understand the T-9.9 is the same motor as the T-8, the only difference is the T-8 has power tilt & electric start, the 9.9 does not.

    I made serveral calls over the last few days in/around the Mpls metro area. I’ve got quotes from 2400 – 2875 on the same exact motor. I did find one heck of deal on new 2003 at Yamaha Motor Sports in Hutchinson. The price for the motor I want is 2028. That’s almost a $400.00 savings. He only had a couple left.

    Mama says I have to wait until March, but then I can get one. If he still has those 03’s I’ll be buying one of them.

    Didn’t have the brassies to try and sneak this past her. It’s better this way, only have to sleep in the boat for the month of July now.

    I was at the Walleye Expo yesterday and talked to Mike Meyer from Frankies Marine in Chisago City, for anyone that is interested he has two T8’s in stock for $2300
