Trolling Motor Mounting Plate

Has anyone else had this problem?

The plate that screws into the bow of my boat for my Minnkota has the grooves that seem to be working their way more open (the grooves themselves). When I depress the foot pedal to make a slight move the torque causes the motor and bracket to lift and when I take my foot off the pedal and cut the power, the motor and bracket bangs back down because of the excess gap/space in the grooves on the plate. (hope that makes sense)

Anyone else ever experienced this before because this is the second rig where I’ve had this happen. It concerns me in that it’s quite a bang when the motor drops back down and when fishing shallow, well, it can’t be good.

    thanks
