Hello everyone,
Here’s an update on a great new product from Garmin: The iQue 3600. It was actually released a couple months ago but was hard to get for a while due to the heavy demand.
You can see the details on the iQue 3600 here.
I actually had the chance to test drive this unit recently and it was outstanding. My brother-in-law and I were driving around Omaha, Nebraska and this unit had us marked even on the minor back roads! The mapping detail is incredible and the color makes it so easy to read. When you miss a turn, it actually talks to you, saying “off route” (We had the optional Navigation Kit too). In my opinion, it’s great for vehicle navigation. But it’s more than that.
Not only is this unit a GPS, but also has all the PDA tools which I thought were very handy. One function I thought might be of use to anglers is the note pad. You can actually “write” (it comes with a metal stylus “pen” and a digital touch screen you can write on) notes and save them on the unit or to a memory card. I think it would be great for keeping a digital fishing log right on your GPS unit. And, of course it has all the other Palm PDA functions.
The screen is large enough to view easily, especially with it being in color. It is compatible with the Garmin Fishing Hots Spots CD, so I would think the mapping for fishing would be very good with the additional CD. And it’s portable enough that it could meet all your GPS or PDA needs in a single unit.
Personally, I think it’s quite the unit and the feedback has been nothing but positive from customers so far. It would make a great Christmas gift for anglers, outdoorsmen, businessmen, or travelers. I don’t get excited about products very often but this thing is very cool. I’m very impressed.
Here’s a link to the Gamin Website – iQue Page for more information as well.
Check it out and if anyone has any question please let me know.
Thanks,
Wade Kuehl
