I told a few of you that I would post on my thought of the Drop-n-Stay once I had a chance to put it to the test. Here is my review of the Original version:
It did work as advertised and I did notice a substantial difference in how my anchors held as well as a smoother ride while anchored. I did not want to take a chance of my rope slipping so I put an extra twist over the top of the cleat and it never moved and inch. It was rough and one problem was that it was hard to attach the rope to the cleat fast enough before the rope got tight. I fixed that problem by attaching it before I let out the rope.
Drop-n-Stay Deuce: This one I liked better because it is much longer and let me anchor straight off the bow. Huge difference in holding and I kept shortening the rope trying to get my anchor to slip. Biggest problem I had was getting it into the water because I had to walk it over the bowmount. Once it was in the water, there was no issues. To fix this problem I hook both ends to the front starboard cleat and dropped the anchor. Once tight, I took one loop off and attached it to the port side. This worked very well.
I would rate these an 8.5 out of 10 and worth the money for the anchor guys out there. Not something you need to use every day but I will be glad to have them on the windy days. Now If I can just learn to catch fish! It was a miserable day out there but I had to see how these worked in rough weather. Hope this helps!
