I just bought a boat from a good friend of mine. it is a 1979 17 foot sylvan with a 1985 75 horse merc. it has not been run in several years, but the engine was overhauled 10 years ago and ran fine the last time it was out.
I will be picking it up the day before I move back to ND and so I have a few questions, first what and how do I check to make sure the wheel bearings on the trailer are good? I would hate to have them go on the interstate.
Secondly once I get a new battery and gas in the boat do I just try to start it with one of those garden hose suction cup flushers attached? or is there something else that would be better?
Third I have heard of a lot of people using additives such as sea-foam to help keep engines from gunking up, how well do these products work and are there any other additives that are cheaper or work better?
Any help is appreciated.
