St. Croix Rod Question

I’ve been looking at a couple of rods lately and was wondering if there was much of a difference between the older avids, and the newer ones with the IPC technology? If there is a difference, what is it, and is it worth a little extra cash? The particular rods are exactly the same except for that difference. 6 1/2 foot lite/fast spinning rods

    Thanks!

    It’s worth it!!
The IPC rods taper is computer designed to perform better than standerd rods that are just a consistant even taper
the IPC blanks have various tapers that change down the shaft that make it perform better.
trust me you will feel the diference

The older AS prefix Avids(SC II blanks) are no longer available from St. Croix. The 2008 Avid prices have not changed from 2007 but you are getting a rod re-engineered with IPC® technology. Built from high-modulus SCIII blanks with a sweet looking carbon pearl finish. All new cork handle shapes and trimmed out with Fuji’s Alconite® Concept Guide System(same as the Legends). The old Avids were never this sensitive, strong or lightweight.

The old Avids were being closed out at several Cabelas stores last winter for around $120-130.
    The 2008 AV66LF lists for $150 and the versatile AV66MLF $160. Your choice…but for $30 or $40 bucks I’d opt for a new version…

    Welcome Riverfisher!!!!

Sure can’t go wrong with the St.Croix Avid series. Nice action, and a pretty resiliant rod. I use them for my guide rods, and you can bet they get a beating!!!

Either way you will love the St. Croix Avid series rods. They are VERY sensitive and feel right in your hands. I am one VERY HAPPY St. Croix rod guy. I love em.
    Thanks, Bill

Love my new Avids, heck, love my old Avids, you can’t go wrong, and the IPC blanks are the bee’s knees! You won’t be disappointed.
