Pinpoint worth repairing?

I have a 3 year old Pinpoint 2700, the footpedal is acting up, the plug between the foot pedal and the motor is flaky, some times I can not get the constant motor “ON” switch to work, have to wiggle it. A new foot pedal is 160.00. With the current state of MotorGuide/Pinpoint is it worth repairing? Motor Clinic said a motor only is 600.00 dollors, yikes! Any body out there running Pinpoint? What has been your history?

Thinking of going back to Minn Kota Auto Pilot, I have never been impressed with the tracking feature.

    klh,

Unfortunately, I have been plagued with infamous Pinpoint problems in the past and too have transformed to Minn Kota and Lowrance. I think their product technology has its obvious strong points but when this stuff does not work? What good does it do you when you are on the water.
I would like to say that replacing the foot pedal would solve all your problems, but I am not sure. Maybe someone else could shed some light on this issue. Finding a place to repair my motors and graphs in a timely manner was nearly impossible. All certified service centers seemed to have more repairs than they could deal with. Maybe things have changed now?

Good luck in your quest. My days of electronic problems have been non-existent since I have replaced my pinpoint systems.

I had the Pinpoint system also. Nothing but trouble trying to get repaired when Motorguide took over. The best thing I did was go back to Minnkota!

Thanks for getting back. I talked to the Motor Clinic in Bloomington and they gave Motor Guides number I talked to MotorGuide and even thought it was a month out of warrenty they said to bring it in they will probebly cover parts possible labor? So in 2 yars this has been the first issue, so I may get it fixed and try to sell the Pinpoint in the spring and go to a Auto Pilot.

    thanks KLH

If there is anyone that can fix it.. Pete at Motor Clinic is the guy. I’ll give them a shameless plug over there. They’ve always provided quality service and information. I highly recommend them.
