I HAVE SOME REALLY NICE GLOVES WITH THE FINGERS THAT LAY BACK BUT THE PALM IS TO BULKY FOR HOLDING ON TO THE ROD. ANY IDEAS?

Gundy, I can’t help ya much there. I just use a cheap pair of outdoor gloves that fit my hands tight. I just take ’em off when I have to do some of the fine work with the finger tips. I’m sure someone’s got a better solution out there.

I saw these gloves online, but also look a little bulky.

Here’s a Lindy Little Joe pair of gloves at Dick’s.

    Good luck!

I use a pair of neoprene hunting gloves that I bought at Fleet Farm a couple of years ago. Keep my hands nice and toasty. I have to take them off to tie on, but otherwise they work just fine for fishing/casting. I think I paid something like 8 bucks for them. Well worth the money.

I’d recommend the Glacier Gloves. A little more spendy, but they fit tight, and keep your mitts pretty darn warm.

For the mild weather we are having now, my hands still get cold in the early morning/evening hours. I put on a pair of mechanics gloves. Thin enough to let me change raps, but just thick enough to keep the wind and most water off of my hands. When the weather gets real cold, I use a pair of cheap neopreme gloves from walmart. I leave the right glove alone, but the left glove gets all the fingers cut back to the stitching on the hand. If my left hand gets cold, I shove it in a pocket until it is needed.

Latex surgical gloves work great. They offer a bit of warmth , knock the wind down, and keep your hands from getting wet. Not good for super cold but really nice in the fall and the feel with them is as good as wearing nothing.

Thanks for the tips. You know when I was a tad younger my hands never bothered me. Now with older age setting in it doesn’t take much to cool’um off.
