Im in the market this year for a new fishfinder, ive been looking at the ones that have a gps/sonar all in one but i also have been looking at the h20c. whould it be better to have a all in one unit or the gps seprate?

    thanks

It all depends on your application.

If you’re looking for something to use while ice fishing, then the H2Oc coupled with your favorite flasher should do the trick.

If you’re looking for an open water unit, do yourself the favor of getting a GPS/sonar combo, like the Lowrance 520. You’ll appreciate the enhanced readability of the larger screen over the H2Oc’s small screen when you’re running from spot to spot. Plus, you’ll have soft water sonar abilities that the H2Oc won’t provide.

Yup, if you don’t do any ice fishing, then you’ll definitely want a combo unit. It’s nice to have it on a bigger screen, and to have many more options between screens. You’ll love life a lot more if you have it all in one unit where you can access everything at once.

    Jason,

A combo unit like the LMS-520C or the Humminbird 787C would be your best bet, IMO.

Are you going to the Fisherman’s Swap Meet in Omaha in a couple weeks? I’ll probably have an LMS-520C on hand if you want to check it out.
