Well, I’ve watched this post for the last couple weeks with much interest. I’m in the process of running my motor resevoir low so I can try Amsoil, I won some this summer in a tourney. I’ve run Shipmate for the last couple years. The only thing I know is it smokes, so did Quicksilver. I’ll be interested to see if Amsoil smokes less? Or my performance goes up noticably, RPMs, Speed…
Will report results in a couple weeks.

I was unaware of any controversy on this subject.I was using this forum for what I thought it was designed for…to share info and for the pros amd experts to educate the less knowledgable, like myself,in areas where we seek to be enlightened. In that light,I fail to see how this got “carried away” but, since your patience on the subject seems to be wearing thin…end of “controversy” as far as I’m concerned.Mike

My patience is not wearing thin, I’m not upset, I’m just going to bow out before this degenerates into an argument between users and non-user. Witnessing the V-8 pickup loss of oil pressure and the dirty small engine I choose to be a non-user.

I have to tell you guys, when I posted this question, I didn’t think I would get much of a response. I applaud each of you that shared their experience and beliefs with me and anyone else interested in the oil question!

Where else could you go and get this info? It comes to you!

Each of the posts and the shipmate website info (which I thought was very interesting), will help each of us come to our own conclusion. Bottom line is – use what makes you feel good, because there will always be opinions.
For the record, I’m sticking with my cheap “Shipwreck” (I liked that post too!) oil because I’m saving my pennies for a GPS/Sonar combo.

I do have one more question about oil. Can anyone tell me why
my Trailblazer has a smoother ride after I change the oil and even better ride when I wash it?

    Thanks again guys!

Beach Brian , the only way I can answer that question is for you to turn your TrailBlazer over to me for a couple of months so I can give you the real honest opinion,,,

Not a problem, Ecnook. Just drop off you new boat in the Afton Marina (I’ll be without a truck) pay the fee and ….don’t forget the tube!
