Was looking at spinning reels again and found some decent reviews about the daiwa capricorn reels. Has anyone here been using these? What do you think about them?
I just picked up a stradic last week and gave it a quick try over the weekend. Wow. The only reason I am looking at the daiwa now is that they seem to run a little less money and in one review I read it was put side by side with the stradic and out preformed it. Not by much.

If you want to save even a few more bucks, try the St. Croix out. It’s basically the same as the Capricorn. I like the reels, but I’m a die hard shimano fan so that’s where my funds go.

I think the St Croix’s are made by Daiwa. That’s what a rep told me at the Sports Show.

    Mike,

I have used the Capricorns the last three years and absolulety love them. I was a Shimano fan but then switched to the Diawa. For the money they are tough to beat. I have put them to the test with over 80-100 trips per year over the last three seasons and have yet to replace any of them. All of my customers that have used them, seem to really like them as well. The other reel that has been great for me is the Ondine, a bit cheaper, but still a great reel. I would recommend either one of these. Give them a shot, you won’t be dissapointed.
