I’m hoping I’ll need a bigger landing net for some catfish or sturgeon fishing and was looking for input as to what size would be appropriate and where to purchase one. What diameter hoop and how long of net should I get? Any other things I should look for or avoid?

    Thanks,

I like this FRABILL BIG GAME net. It’s not to overly rediculously big and clumsy like some and not to small either.

I’m with fnf on this one. That is the same net I use for cat’s and sturgeon…although there’s been times I would have bet the fish wouldn’t fit…they all did.

However Dan Theim’s 58 pounder put a slight bend in the hoop.

On advantage to this net is that if you’re alone in the boat placing one foot on the hoop and your hand on the handle, it’s easily extended.

The other piece is that it extends to 8 foot for use in a number of bank fishing situations.

For my type of fishing…mostly out of a boat, the button that locks into the yoke aways seems to be caught in the net and about once a year the handle needs a little silicon.
