Spot light for deer?

I use to have a good Colman spot light that threw out a very good beam for a very long ways, it was great for spotting deer, well it finally wore out on me and I have not been able to find that model since. I have had a couple different ones since then and I have been very disappointed in them they just do not throw out the beam that my old Colman did. Anyone have any suggestions for a good spot light that they are happy with.

    Steve,
I haven’t found a good one either. I know I don’t like how heavy the rechargeable ones are. I have a 1 million candle power Vector spot lite. Its just a plug in type. I think I got it a Fleet Farm. It was cheap (less than 20.00) but it is not bright enough. I’ll be watching for others suggestions.

Yea I have the same one and it is a piece of junk, the best one I had was a Colman that plugged into the cig lighter unfortunately they do not make that one anymore

I don’t know what kind it was, but last fall Calvin had a really nice cordless spotlight that lit-up Mille Lacs pretty dang good! It wasn’t nearly as big and bulky as the ones that I’m used to…kinda like holding a cast-iron frying pan up in the air. I think Calvin got it at Cabelas?

Im with you guys on this one but i figured out how to to keep my old spotlight, I just went to menards and bought a spotlight for 10 bucks and i took it a part and took the battery out of that one and put it in my old one i think most of them take the similiar battery

I picked up the cheapest light I could find at Fleet Farm. It plugs into the cig lighter and works like a charm. I think I spent a whopping $15 on mine.

Stay away from the rechargeable ones. I could not get one to hold a charge after about a week and you only need to be caught on the backwaters at 2 am without a light once

I was in Mora this past weekend and visited Unclaimed Freight. They had 6,000,000 candle light spot lights for $12or $14. I have a 1M CL from Menard’s too and it works fine so far. But I may have to “claim” one of those ones in Mora.

I picked up a 2 million at wally world that came with an extra battery. Boy do I love it. I used to bring two for redundency but now I just bring the extra battery. 1 mil makes it hard to see all the way across the river.

I use the 3 mil that can be bought at Wally World. I think it’s a Brinkman brand. No rechargables for this guy, extra battery or not, they can get quite heavy. I guess if you need to be mobile, walking across field etc, then by all means go with battery powered. Don’t expect anywhere near the advertised charge time though

What kind of battery does the Brinkman use?

I use the non-battery model. 12 volt plug in. Light weight and brite. Brinkman Q-Beam is the model.

I use a Vector 2 Million candlepower recargable/corded light. It is a little heavier, but it has a good beam, and a handy little LED light on the handle. This model can be run off a power cord without damaging it.

They are around $35 at Auto Zone. If you dont mind a little extra weight, and like the rechagable capability.. I highly recommend them. They are powerful, but not too oversized and cumbersome. The cig lighter cord is pretty long and heavy duty.

Dave how long have you had your Vector, I got one after the Colman died on me at it worked good the first year but after that it lost alot of its power it had when I first got it.
