What can you tell me about the larger Suzuki 4-stroke outboards 115 – 150. Is the 140 a good engine? A friend is looking at a Lund tyee with the 140 on it.

The 140 zuki, isn’t exactly a strong 140, that’s pretty well known. I thought mine was dog when it actually ran, which was rarely. That said, many, many happy suzuki owners. Most will say they’re bullet proof, reliable. I just got a lemon, it happens. My honest opinion, that 140 is not enough motor on a Tyee.

I’ve run the 115 (with a Johnson cover, but all Suzuki guts) for the past 4 seasons. Couldn’t be happier with it. Very quiet. Reasonably fuel efficient. 100% reliable.

I owned a Suzy 140 w/1800 Lund Fisherman. The 140 was a very quiet motor, but, like above, a little under- powered. I’d recommend a 150 or 175 Suzy.

One issue that I had, along with many other Suzy/Johnson 140 owners was the motor stalling when getting on plane (this is noted on two other fishing websites).

Go with the 150 or 175 – they’re very good motors!

a buddy of mine had one on his 1800 lund fisherman, and loved it. very quiet, and pushed him at an easy 40mph. he trusted it at many canada trips.

Look up “bullet-proof” in the dictionary.

HAVE a 115 johnson 4-stroke and its been flawless and good power for a 115,excellent fuel economy and it hasnt even thought about missing a beat. I have heard the 140 isnt much stronger than a 115

I was told by a Suzuki dealership that a 140 is actually a 138 and that a 150 is closer to a 155. It is plenty big for the 1750 tyee. It would probably be better to go to a 150 for the 1850 tyee.

Not trying to start a motor argument, but I think they are light weight, very fuel efficient, and the only motor quieter is a Yammy. I haven’t had any problems with mine.

I run a 140 Johnson/Johnsuzuki!! I think the motor has been great….Its on a Alumcraft TP 175 CS. It runs around 42 mph on top end. Its gets up on plane pretty well with one-two and gear! Its a little slower out of the hole with three guys! It’s super on fuel!!!!!and I can back troll with a drift sock out at under 1 mph
