    1. Does anyone know of someone who rebalances or rewhatevers damaged props in the Eau Claire area? I would rather see if it is doable before I buy a new one.
    2. My Minnkota foot petal is giving me troubles. It will only steer right, left does nothing. It got banged around once and the white plastic bracket on the inside was loose. I removed the springs and got it back into place and now it will only stear right. Any ideas? $80 for a new one? C’mon!! There is only about $5 worth of materials in that piece of %!#@.

I feel your pain! I too have had CONSTANT problems with my foot control that a normal disassembly and cleaning did not fix… the advice I got from the authorized repair center here in Rochester, Lake Sonic, is that it’s rarely cost-effective to repair these unit and that a new part is recomended. At Lake Sonic they wanted $68 for the pedal. Better than $80 but still a shameful rip-off in my opinion.

Oh yeah, mine goes left and not right. Maybe we should fish together sometime….lol

That is highway robbery at $68 or $80. If we hooked up our boats together side by side we would be all set. Thanks for the response.

It could be either the foot pedal or the long curly cord [full of wires]. Mine wouldn’t turn to the left and it ended up being the pedal. They are not cheap but I can remember hearing guys complain that they cost 100.00 a few years back. So the 60.00-80.00 isn’t as bad as it use to be. Thanks, Bill

Ok, I know this may sound goofy as all heck, but it worked for me…. I had the same problem on a boat a while back. Not turning or no momentary power. I took the entire pedal and dunked it into the water every time the problem arose. Fixed it every time….at least until it dried out. I did this for at least an entire season! Give it a try.

    Watch out on that one.
Two of the three foot pedals I currently have, short out when wet and start turning(rotating) by themselves. The only thing you can do to stop them is unplug them.
Because I seem to fish soaking wet so often I will put the pedal in a 1 gallon freezer bag to keep it dry while using it. I’ve taken them apart and noticed that the plastic coating on the switch gets a hole wore in it allowing water in to short it out. I use a hair dryer to dry them at night, and this takes care of the problem until it gets soaked again the next day.
Working through Minnkota with this problem, the circuit board is $58. I’ve paid $65 for a whole new foot pedal from them. I think it’s worth your time to work through their customer service department, they need to hear about this, and may cut you a better deal on a replacement pedal.

Good point Hooks! Try my idea only as a last resort.

I guess I don’t have the patience for drying out anything with a hairdryer that is suppose to work in a boat. I’d rather shell out the $$$ and get one that works!

On a happy note. I have 3 full seasons on a Minnkota Powerdrive PD65 24 volt motor. Kept it off my last boat and have not had one single problem with motor or pedal!
