i’m pretty happy with the way my boats set up but i think it could be fine tuned a little.
    **my set up: 16′ v, 60 hp 4 stroke, 13 pitch-3 blade-10 3/8″.
**my problem: when fishing alone the motor will top out quickly and will over-rev to 6300 rpm’s or so. with company and gear the whole shot really falls apart.
    **my thought: found a 13 pitch-4 blade-11″.

    what do you think?

It sounds right. Is that a merc 60? If you try the 4 blade, and it works I may be interested in your 3 blade.

your dealing with a 16′ boat and a 60hp motor, u may be looking for something that isn’t possible, as far as a ‘hole-shot’ with gear and 2 other people on board. What kind of engine do u have and what kind of gauge says it’s running 6300rpm? I might be wrong, but i hardly ever here of anyone going with a 4 blade on an engine of that size?

as a rule of thumb when you add a blade you drop your RPM’s so you usually drop down a size in pitch. Would it be possible to get a smaller diameter prop to use for heavier loads and keep your current for light loads? Aluminum would be a good applicaition here.

    Good luck!

it’s an ’06 mercury with teleflex gauges. what want to do is lower my WOT RPM a couple hundred but maintain whole shot with load. i was thinking the 4 blade would do both. i’m not worried about top end.

I would probally consult a quality knowledgeable dealer/mechanic on this to be for certain, but I really don’t think a 4 blade will perform for u very well at all.

    Good Luck
