Anyone here ever tried the Cruxis? When I saw this reel come out, I knew I just had to get one. One of the most attractive reels out there for the money IMO. I have heard good reviews about it and wondering what everyone thinks of them. I found one for a really good price on ebay never used, and I went for it. I was also wondering, does this reel only come in 6:2:1 gear ratio? because I went on Shimano’s website and that’s all they had. The auction did not specify the gear ratio, but I was ok w/ that considering if it is 5:1 or something I will just use it for flipping and if it is 6:2:1 it will be a swim jig/frog set up.

    Thanks for the info

I’ve got the new Cruxis, Citica, and Curado 200’s. Outside the 7:0 gear ratio on the Curado they all are pretty simular in weight and casting ability. The Cruxis only comes in 6:2:1.

Thanks Jim, that was my biggest question..I can’t wait to get it now.

I personally have nothing against the citica or Curado, but I like the attractiveness and price range of the Cruxis. Like I said I already bought it off ebay so there’s no turning back. Just wanted to have a couple questions answered so I know what’s coming. I bought a 7’6″ heavy flipping stick today, so now my pflueger has a new home, and the cruxis will go on either my fig rig or my lightning rod, I haven’t decided if I want it to be for frogs or swim jigs just yet

Never used a Cruxis. I have some of the new Citicas, and I think they are superior to the old Curados, but a bit heavier. I read on the web a few places of some issues with the Revo’s not sure which ones though. Diawa Advantage is another option, and they are just now coming out with a Tierra model, which looks like a updated Advantage.

Shimanos are rock solid reels that last. Diawas have been pretty good for me, I like the way they palm better, and they are somwhat lighter than the Shimanos too.

I own a Cruxis and fitted it with a new 4 bearing handle from Pfleuger–so it’s now an 8 bearing reel. I then lubed it with Quantum Hot Sauce oil and grease and “super-tuned” it with a speed wrench. You can also take the plastic spool cap and replace it with the one from the Curado, to sort of upgrade it. The thing works fast and effortlessly to say the least. I enjoy it a lot and can’t find anything better for the price.
