Just got done updating the software in my 7600HD and my 332C’s. The updates added some nice goodies, with all three units on the network it puts all the backlights in sync, dim one and they all dim. The updates also allow you to share the waypoints from one unit to the others on the network. So if you are up on the bow and set a new waypoint, when you go back to the console it is there also! Another thing on the GPS side is it allows you to have 2 GPS pucks on the network and it will pick the best signal and use that for your position. These are just a few of the goodies I have found so far, just thought I would share them, hope it hels somebody out there.

The updates have some drawbacks also.

    1. Remember to write down all your settings. They will be lost after the update. For example, your sensitivity and colorline values. You will also have to reset your update criteria for your gps.

    2. After the installation, the units no longer retain their last configuration. For example, I like to have the split map/graph page but after every power down the page reverts to full map.

    3. Both unit must be on in order to share waypoints. Waypoints cannot be “synchronized” after the units power up.

    4. Icons and trails are not shared.

    5. The sonar does not perform as well with the new updates. There are “hick-ups” that cause delays in updates to the graph which sometimes are several seconds long.

I like the direction that Lowrance is heading. They could do so much more than they have. I think they need to get more fisherman VOC and they could have a product that blows away the competition.

What I wish is if Lowrance could talk to the folks at Pinpoint, they have had a network that shares sonar info..depth and graphs for over 10 years now. If Lowrance could do that they would have a system second to none.
