So I bought this ’91 Alumacraft competitor last year and I have a question about charging the batteries. It has 2 batteries up front for the bow mount trolling motor. There is a control panel up in front with a switch that says “Run 12v/24v” and the other position says “Charge 2/12v”. I logic tells me that yes the switch should be switched to “Charge 2/12v” when charging, but what does this switch actually do? Does it put them in parallel so I can charge them both by just hooking to one battery? If that is the case, I suppose I can’t run my carger in “Battery Recondition Mode” with the switch in this position as the instructions with the charger say to limit it to one battery at a time in recondition mode.

    Thanks,

Well, I thought someone may have had some insight on this. I think I may have figured it out. When the switch it on 2/12 and I hook to one battery I believe I charge both batteries. I checked the battery that I wasn’t hooked to after fully charging the other and it read full as well.

I think I am on the right track now.

The switch in charge position is used for charging back through the plug. In other words, you wire in a plug to your charger and plug it into the t-motor plug, switch it to chage and plug th echarger in. (The charge plugs are Red)
