Interior lights in a 99 Yukon

I am totally baffled… the other day, the interior lights in my Yukon ‘decided’ to stay on, even after all the doors are closed and locked. the only time they turn off is when the ignition key is turn to ‘run’. We were driving home and the lights would occassionally flash on-and-off.

They did turn off when I pushed the ‘override’ button by the headlamp switch but it’s annoying not having the interior lights turn on when you open the door. To me, it sounds like a switch in a door is sticking/shorting or is there something under the dash I should be looking for?

I hope its nothing more. I have problems with my yukon at the moment also. Stupid air conditioning sensor on the back end is broken or something because it does not know how to shut off anymore, first started when I though my battery went bad. After going in and having Batteries Plus test it they said it was fine. Came back a day later after they recharged it up, it died again later that night. Brough it back, got it exchanged for a new battery and at that point I was not a happy camper anymore. Put new one in and it did the same thing over. Figured I brought battery back, had it charged, put it back in and sat in the car furious over what’s going on and how much time its taking away from me towing the to the water. While thinking and car was off I finally noticed the stupid air pumping way in the back, wishper like, raging on and on. Checked all the knobs and made sure they were off, and still it was going on. Resulted me pulling the fuse for the airflow in the back to sit that problem down. Still havn’t booked a time to bring it into GMC yet.

It’s kind of wierd…last week the headlights on our impala shut off while driving down the highway…NOT good. Somethings messed up there?? Same day, cousins odo went out in his F150, talked to my dad this week, electronics on his truck are going haywire, dash lights. I’ve heard along with your story, others as well that are having electrical issues on their vehicles, it came up at softball this week, two other guys mentioned their electronics acting weird and all in the last week or so?? Might be the martians sending electrical pulses from outerspace? I wonder if the higher humidity and hot weather we’ve been having has something to do with it??

Im going to guess its a timer issue on the Yukon… there are way too many gadgets in modern day vehical interior lights.. and lots that could go wrong to cause a issue. Its a long shot, but disconnecting your battery for a minute and reconnecting it might reset the circuit.. I doubt it, but it might work.

The impala the headlights went out on.. does that have the automatic headligts? If so the sensor has a bad connection or is going out.

It’s the invisible black helicopters. Beware.

I do know they had a problem with the BCM (body control module)on some of the GM models and that controls some of the lighting features in the truck.
