I’m assuming by being parked outside someone helped themselves to your lower unit?
June 13, 2007 at 3:47 pm #580228I thought Evinrudes came like that . Man if you got robbed I am feeling for ya big time bro!!!
June 13, 2007 at 3:55 pm #580232So out at Devils Lake fishing on Memorial weekend. Sunday evening moving to another spot, get up on plane when all of a sudden it felt like the motor just gave out! Well got off plane, to idle speed runs fine, well put the hammer down and now something is wrong, the motor would bog down and shake violently while trying to get up on plane. Well get back to idle speed and rev the motor fine up to 3500 rpms, thinking maybe clogged injectors or something…..NOPE same problem. So I continued to fish the rest of the weekend not above idle speed on the motor.
Get an appointment at Frankies to have the motor looked at..Good diagnosed last friday the 8th ( my appointment was for the 6th ). Bearings are shot in the lower unit, ok not a problem, covered under warranty, I have to pay for overnight shipping so I can have my boat for the Osakis tournament this weekend, still not a problem…Well at about 2 pm yesterday afternoon I get a call, “Cal I got some bad news” oh great!!!
“It seems your gears are toast also, which means a whole new lower unit”. sweet!!! So when can I pick my boat up?????? “Um yeah not til next week”!!
They cannot get parts from Evinrude until late Thursday or Friday morning. Well I need to pre-fish so I was able to find a boat to borrow for the weekend, thank god!I will be picking it up on Monday I guess.
I have heard that there has been several lower units this past week that have gone out on Direct Injection motors as well as E-tecs.
Thank God for warranty!!!
June 13, 2007 at 4:13 pm #580238That sucks. good Luck in the Tourney. How about making a drop later today?? I have meetings until 2.
I have heard some of the same rumblings on Evinrudes Cal. It don’t matter what motor you have, if something happens like that IT JUST PALIN SUCKS
I hope you get her back soon and good luck in Osakis.

So do they know what caused the problem?? Bad lot of bearings or is it a design issue??? Happening on all size motors….or more on the larger motors???

June 13, 2007 at 4:53 pm #580269It’s all rumbelings at the moment. Mainly big motors running high RPMS. Agian this is just rumors. Nothing substantiated. Same rumors are heading around about the XS as well.
June 14, 2007 at 3:38 am #580483Sorry to hear that Cal
I guess we can take my boat when we go fishing for bass
ted-merdanPosts: 1036June 14, 2007 at 1:40 pm #580539I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but there is a know issue with the gear cases again. At the Devils Lake FLW event after day 1 the line was long at the service trailer.
Attempting to be factual here – nothing more.
June 15, 2007 at 1:03 am #580677I thought maybe you met up with that old farm road under water on the SW corner of Pelican.
WarrenMNJune 19, 2007 at 2:44 am #581919They’re part of the map package I sell to use in Fugawi. I buy ,steal or beg them from different government agencies. I think thats the 2003 set. In the 2005’s I think the lake was just a bit higher and the road wasn’t visible.
The ones from 1990 before the lake started to rise are the main part, but I included every thing I can get my hands on cause there is always some where you can use them. One good point on this is you know exactly what is and isn’t flooded this way.
I’ve got quadrangle maps too from 1950 when Six mile bay was a swamp. I’ve also got imagery from the mid 1940’s when the lake was almost empty but the quality is extremely poor.WarrenMN
June 19, 2007 at 2:55 am #581923Bruce Samson has some about my mapping for him on his site http://www.hightechfishing.com/
This is what that area looked like before the water came up. The guys running laptops in their boats can see exactly what they’re driving over.
In the 1990 imagery you’ll notice they didn’t have a need for the drive way to be raised.
