I am trying to decide between two boats, can you give me pros and cons on the boat models themselves, and the motors.

    1996 Lund 1890 Pro-V DLX SE – $11900

Lund 1890 Pro-V DLX SE – Loaded – Dual Console – Great Condition
    150HP Mercury 2.5 XRI
9.9HP Merc 4 Stroke Kicker Motor
74lb 24V Minnkota Maxxum Trolling Motor

3 – Eagle Locators, On board Charger, Wave Wacker Splash Guards, Galvinized Trailer with Spare and swing hitch, Custom Mooring cover, reverse chargeback system, stainless prop with 2 spares, many other options.

    2nd boat

    1997 Lund 1900 Pro V LE

1997 Lund 1900 ProV LE with 1997 Mercury 200 HP EFI and 1999 Mercury 9.9 4-stroke Bigfoot kicker motor. Minn Kota All Terrain 24V electric trolling motor. 2 Bank Battery charger and 3 batteries. AMFM cassette stereo and Marine band radio with 10 ft fiberglass antenna. Lowrance LMS 350 with GPS, Lowrance Global Map 2400, Lowrance X70 graph, and FL8 flasher. 1997 Shorelandr trailer with brakes and a boat cover. $13500

My questions are which is better for what, the le vs. the se. I can see the obvious a dual console on one, a single set back console on the other. The SE looks like it has a steeper line to the water from the bow, than the LE does? Is it my imagintion, or is it a deeper boat? How handy is the LE with the console position? I want to do some planer board trolling and maybe downriggers, is there enough room with the console set back like it is. Any major problems with those year class motors. Neither comes with kicker steering, can I add a steering bar off the big motor, to us the wheel with for trolling. Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate the help. I will be upgrading from a 14′ dinghy, lol. So it is a big decision, which will be better. WTA

even though the 1890 seems to be rigged a little nicer, i would go with the 1900. the EFI being the main reason but also the added space.

maybe you can swap trailers and put the galvi under the 1900?

I think the difference between LE and SE is the positon of the console. On the SE, it is placed more in the midpoint between the bow and stern. On the LE, the console is placed further back toward the stern. From your pictures, the bow angle does look different between the two. Not sure if that is LE vs. SE or just size/year differences.

I can’t help you out with the LE vs SE. I owned a dual console lund, and absolutely loved it. If your passenger includes the wife go with the dual console boat, it doesnt look like much, but offers decent protection from wind and water on cold mornings. Just my opinion but I dont like the LE, and trolling for me would be better with the SE. I like to be able to have a larger area to put rod holders. The LE would not allow multiple people to fish from the boat easily as you would not have much room behind the LE console for additional persons, rods, etc. I would assume that with the LE more weight is positioned to the rear of the boat and would allow the wind to push the front a bit easier. I have noticed this when I run my kicker from the back of the boat vs running at the console, wind does push the front around easier with more weight to the rear of my boat. You can run a steering bar off the main motors, very easy addition to add and fairly cheap $20-$30 if remember correctly. Carb vs EFI? I have owned both and have no complaints about either. I like carbs myself, just for reliability and the fact that the average guy can still work on them. That being said, I have EFI now and have never had any issues yet either. The big concern I would consider is the 150 vs 200 hp. The 150 might have to work a bit to push that boat. I have a 1900 Pro V IFS with a 200 four stroke and it works a bit to get out of the hole and speed is not the fastest. The 200 would definately be the way to go. The only other issue I see is that the motors are Mercury Just my experience and preference, just have never had any luck with reliability with them. But they are good motors, just has been my dumb luck I think. If it were my choice I would go with the dual console boat. When I had mine I did alot of trolling and absolutely loved it, and I would reccomend them to anyone! Good luck with your decision let us know which one you go with!

Go with the dual console SE if you are going to be doing some trolling with planer boards, the SE gives you more room in the aft of the boat when trolling.
Also when trolling by yourself you do not want the small motor hooked up to the big motor because you’ll be towards the back of the boat messing with your rods then constantly reaching for the steering wheel.
Get a long kicker handle to control the kicker motor and move the kicker to the starboard (drivers) side. This will give you the best boat control when trolling by yourself.
The LE is fast but not set up for effective trolling.
The system outlined above is how I have my Lund set up and I troll alot by myself, and Its the best way I’ve found to manage 3-rods when alone. (Wis. resident)
The SE looks like its in real nice shape.Run the Merc into the ground and then by a new one for the boat.

    Hope this helps!

i have a 2025 LE. as far as trolling goes, they are the cats a$$. i troll cranks for walleye and troll for muskie. when you are trolling, all of the rods are either right to your side or in front of you, no looking back all the time checking rods for bites. after a few hours of twisting your neck, it gets sore. i have a pursuit track system, and you can set the rod holders where you want them for any given application. the single console on the 1900 is really nice, nothing but room, are you buying a fishing boat or a pleasure boat??? if your wife wants a console, just have her drive when she is in the boat, then she will have a console. that is how i sold the idea of the LE to my wife. i am on the water between 3 and 5 days a week and she might come along 1 or 2 times a week if the weather is nice, if not, she might not come out fishing until the weather gets nicer. the ride in the LE is much better than the SE. when using the kicker or the transom electric on the LE, it is right behind you, you can also hook up a connector between the kicker and the main motor and run the throttle on the tiller handle and steer with the steering wheel. you can use/see the locator’s that are mounted on the helm. you don’t need another locator mounted in the rear of the boat when running the in a SE. the duel console LE or the IFS LE is crowded in the rear of the boat and it looks like it would be a problem of not enough room to reel in fish in the back of the boat. with the LE single console, there is plenty of room to reel in fish from the back of the boat. the LE will be a little wetter than the SE, but that is what good rain gear is for. contrary to popular belief, depending on your direction of travel in any wind over 15mph, ALL boats will have some degree of over spray. if you are close to mille lacs lake, get a hold of me and we can take my boat out for a ride and see how you like it. i don’t know for sure, but i think that both boats that you are looking at have 20 inch transoms. my 2025 is a 2003 and it has a 25 inch transom, but that may have changed between 1997 and 2003. everybody fishes different and no boat is perfect for every application. my next boat will also be a LE. if you want to talk to me about the LE give me a call at 612-419-7536……………….tom fellegy

PS i think that the steeper line that you are referring to is just the difference between the boats length and widths
