Does anyone know a place in the twin cities that I can take my tent to get the zipper replaced?

Can’t help with a repair shop but how damaged is it? Have you tried fixing it yourself or is it missing teeth and ripping from the tent itself making it too far gone? You may already know but many zipper repairs can be done without replacing the whole thing.

The zipper is not missing any teeth, however it will not stay together at all once zipped up or down. The opening is in an arch form and even when no presure is applied the zipper will not work properly. Any advice on things I can try to fix it on my own? If not I am on the north east side of the twin cities and am looking for a repair shop in that area.

Not an expert by any means…But, it sounds to me as if it is just the zipper ‘pull’, and not a ‘teeth’ issue. I’ve seen this happen on two tents. Check the pull for wear. Let me know how you make out w/it? Gregory

A worn slider or pull is a common problem that sure can be annoying by allowing the zipper to pull apart and not stay closed.

One thing you can try is to “pinch” the slider. Assuming you can still move the slider along the zipper you’ll first need to open the zipper all the way. If it’s jammed and won’t budge you might have to pry on the slider with a screwdriver to free it up some being careful to not break any teeth.

Once the slider is positioned all the way down, grab a pair of pliers and pinch or squeeze the slider on each side slightly, attempting to give it more grip on the zipper. Don’t pinch it too tight or it will bind. Test the zipper to see if it will stay shut and if it won’t you may need to pinch it a little tighter. This has worked for me many times on many different tents but if the slider is shot then you can try fixing it yourself with a Zipper Repair Kit.
    Good Luck!
