Motor was one hole up upon delivery, during initial test it was losing bite. Could not trim up at all or it would cavitate. The dealer lowered to flat on transom. It handles well but is lacking in hole shot and top end. Max RPM is 5k, it should be 5250-5750. Current prop is a 21 Pitch Tempest plus. If I drop to a 19P will I gain with hole shot and top end as well as 500 RPM’s?

Repropped to a 19 pitch, rpm is 52-5300.

Does anybody have this boat/motor combo? What are you running and how is it performing?

I’d really like to get it to run near the max rpm when I’m the only one in the boat.

    Any suggestions?

If I remember right the Tempest has the cut off or flat tip on the ends. In my opinion I would get rid of that prop and go to a raker. The tempest will not trim high ( run skinny trimed up ) and give any amount of bow lift. I don`t know what pitch you would need but a 19 sounds pretty close on that boat.

PayDay, my boss has that boat with a 135 Poti. I will ask him what he runs.

Not the exact boat, but I have a 18′ Explorer with a 150 Suzi on it. I run a Michigan Wheel Ballistic 14 X 21. Runs 5500 rpm at 54 mph on GPS. Full trim and it doesn’t blow out. Motor is mounted in second highest hole. Most people kinda shun the ballistic but I’ve had pretty good luck with it.

Ideally is the cavitation plate supposed to be level with, above, or below, the bottom of the boat?
