I’ve used 3 seperate motors this spring so far on 3 different boats. 2 of those motors were 80 lb thrust motors. The other was a 101. I got to use each motor multiple days.

I liked the foot pedal. You have a choice between the “side to side” steering option that everyone is used to with the past powerdrive pedals. You also have a low profile “forward and back” steering option that should appeal to the maxxum guys. Personally I liked the “forward-back” steering option.

The autopilot worked on all three units I tested. I like the move of the autopilot switch from the top of the motor head to the left side of the foot pedal. The light to indicate if the autopilot was engaged was very easy to see which was a nice change from having to look to the top of the motor head to look for that little red dot on the old powerdrive motors.

The mount was easy to use; deploy and stow was easy enough and the new design ensures that the head won’t deploy accidentally. Once the head unit is properly stowed… it is all but locked in place until you want it back in the water.

Overall I give the motor a big thumbs up. The only con would be the price. All the new features and upgrades come at a pretty significant increase in cost over the old powerdrive units.

If I was going to buy a new unit tomorrow it would be a 101 lb thrust terrova with the universal sonar.

I just got a new 25′ fishing pontoon and I have it rigged with the Terrova 80# thrust with the Co-Pilot remote wireless control and the universal sonar. I’ve only used it three times but I love it so far. I have not tested the universal sonar hookup because I haven’t figured out where I want the front locator positioned. I plan on running a Garmin 240 at the front of the boat.

I gave the motor a good work out the first time I was out because I wanted to learn how to operate it and I wanted to see how it handled a large pontoon boat. I was very pleased. I fish the St Croix River and the 80# thrust moves that pontoon perfectly even in the wind and current. The foot pedal is easy to operate but I prefer the wireless remote because I can run the motor from anywhere on the pontoon.

The Terrova is very easy to deploy and recover. That was one of the features I was interested in because I was mounting it on a pontoon boat. I like the motor so far and I’ve got all pros and no cons.

If you are going with the 101 you should have all the power you need. My 80# thrust handles my pontoon just fine.

We’ve gotten some really good feedback from customers. It’s a little early to say too much but everything our customers have said has been positive so far. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I really like mine. I was skeptical because I am an old cable steer guy & didn’t think there was a better motor than the Maxxum. In my opinion there is, Terrova. Everything the other posters have praised them for are true. I was worried about the reaction time of the power drive head, but the Terrova responds quickly (not as fast as a Maxxum, but pretty darn quick). Mine has autopilot and US2, so far really enjoying those features as well.
