What kinda rigs are you guys using for pitching cranks? I have a good rod for pitching plastics and a half way decent set up for trolling but am think I need a good set up for pitching crank baits. My bait caster for trolling does not want to cast to well and my pitching rig has to light of line on it and I think the tip might be a little soft.
What type of line is good for pitching also. Bait caster or spinning?
Picked up a good supply of bombers, grappler shads and rattle raps tonight. Going to try to get my old rods threw one more trip but I think it is time to add anouther rod to the collection. Thanks

I use both a 6ft. and 7 ft. St. Croix Avid Medium spinning rod. I know Dustin swears by the 6 1/2 ft. Avid rods and I think James does too for casting. St. Croix makes great rods and also have a great warranty. Let us know what you choose and how you like it. Thanks, Bill

    Mike,

I use the same rods that I use for pitching plastics, 6’6″ to 7′ St Croix Avid medium action with a fast tip. This set up has worked well for me.

I did the same this morning dustin but I took the extra spool that came with the reel and put some spider wire on it. It was the free spool of 30# I got this spring so it was a little heavy but what else is a guy going to do at 10 oclock. It didnt work to bad today but the line is going to be changed out soon.
6 and 8 pound is what I have been running on my pitching rods but I am going to stick with some heaver line for pitching cranks. Snapping of 30 cent jigs is one thing but $4 cranks is anouther.
Now that you guys are wondering about $4 dollar cranks. Check out the grappler shads and bombers. Deezee has mentioned these a few times. Tryed them both today and I think I am going to be sticking with them for a while. With the sale a gander this week you can pick them up for a little over three bucks. Every one I put on today ran true right out of the box.
