Removing Bearing Carrier

Found a small leak coming out of the prop shaft on my kicker this spring (Yammy T9.9). Took prop off and found some fireline wrapped up in there which likely took out the prop shaft seals.
Does anyone have a trick for getting the bearing carrier off? I can’t seem to find a puller for it anywhere. Borrowed some gear pullers from friends but the feet were too large to fit within the opening so I couldn’t grab on to anything. Some of the parts places I talked too do not have the tool to rent.

Thanks for any help you could provide!

Don’t know about yours specifically, but most have a threaded retainer nut that requires a spanner wrench or you can use two flat screw drivers and a pry bar. Once you have the retaining nut out you can pull on the prop shaft to get the carrier out.

I will give that a try tonight.

They quoted me $130 for the job in the shop (I bought the seals for $12). Have better things in store for the $118 and thought I would give er a shot first.

    Thanks for the reply jetro!

I recommend having a manual, to ensure that if there are any torque specs on this, you have your bases covered.

I do have a Yamaha manual for the kicker and the main motor….they show the puller needed for this bearing carrier but I can’t find anyone locally who sells, rents or loans one.

    Thanks Gary!
