VHF Radio set-up questions

So I have finally decided to break down and buy a VHF radio. Just looking to see what guys have for a set-up. Let me know what antenna, Radio, Mount, and whatever else is needed for a fixed mount radio.

I appreciate all the info in advance.

BTW it will be installed in a lund fisherman if that matters

Not sure aobut the Radio but the 4′ Little Giant Antenna is the way to go IMO. I have my radio attached via Ram ball mount under my console. so I can tuck it up and out of sight when I do not need it.

This set up has worked well for me and a few guys I know:

Standard Horizon Radio

5400XT Antenna

RAM Antenna Mount.

Rob, how do have your radio setup mounted? Sounds like a good idea. Any info would be appreciated. Size or # of ram mount, where you have the ball mounted etc. Also, how far out can you get with the Little Giant antenna? Thanks
