Hp ratings..

    Say a guy has a tiller boat rated for 90 hp and the same boat with a counsel is 175. If he put on a Mertins system what would he have to do to get his hp rating increased? Jump through hoops with the Coast Guard?

    I would think that the CG would insist that it be installed in the factory or by a dealer. In any case you’d more than likely be so wrapped up in red tape that it might just be cheaper to sell the boat and buy one that is rated for the bigger motor.
