are cupped props better than non-cupped? I will be buying a new prop soon so i can use the current as a spare. it’s for a 16′ “v” with a 60hp 4 stroke. have a 13 pitch now that runs to 6 grand which is the motor red line. seems to do good now, but would a cupped prop help a little? if yes should i go down to a 12 pitch?

there are quite a few web sites out there that have prop calculators. put in the info and it tells you what type of prop would be best for your motor and boat. i would check a couple of them out. personally i dont think you would need to go down a prop size, i beleive you may be able to go up. the cuping makes the blade run easier in the water.

Yes, a cupped prop will bring your boat to life!
If your at 6-grand with a 13 pitch,
go to a cupped prop, 15 pitch, and you will get a little better top speed with comparable holeshot.
Always use the biggest diamater prop.
Always use a prop calculator before you drop your hard earned cash.
You can never go wrong with a cupped prop.

    Good Luck

in theory if i go up to a 15 pitch that will drop my rpm by 400. will the cupping drop it more that that? i’d hate to drop to much and lose on the bottom and top end.
