I noticed wednesday when i took my boat out that my motor seemed to be missing a little on the takeoff and when I would shift into nuetral it would idle up for five to ten seconds then come back to normal idle speed. Is this a spark plug issue? The motor is only a year old but i’ve heard that optimax go through plugs. Not sure if the spark plugs would be a cause of the high idle. Please help

I have a 2003 Optimax 200 and no plugs yet needed to be replaced. I have had nothing but great luck with it.

Could it just be from the ridiculously cold temps in April?

Always a possiblity, however last year when I was fishing Pool 4 early mine ran the best it ever had with the cold temps.

Maybe a storage issue. Did you have the proper stoage items done like add Stable to the gas? Add some stuff (Sea Foam) to the tank and run it.

my bro-inlaw just bought a new opti and the dealer told him that when the water temps are cold the opti will idle higer until the motor warms up and then idle back down. from what i was told it sounds normal with the cold water/air temps.
