    Good Morning,

The batteries I got with my new/used boat are dead on arrival. Where is the best place to pick up some new ones in the Twin Cities ?

    Thanks for any input.

If you have a little time…contact Mark Strickland at Marine Specialties in Redwing.

Not only is he a great guy…but he’s offered 15% discounts to registered IDA members.

Basicly you can get a Interstate battery at the same price as a Walmart battery…

On the way back, you can stop in and see Dean at Everts…if you time it right…look behind the counter, that’s where he hides the good cookies.

If you want the cities, I go to Gander mountain, they carry Trojan batteries, which I personally like.

Nick- Are you sure those Trojans are batteries?

You can try Maximum Voltage, in Farmington is a Interstate battery wholesaler. Very good prices.

I don’t know if you have Orielly Auto Parts up there but my 31 series batteries from them were under $80 each 3 years ago and mine are still going strong. They get pounded fishing tournaments too.

Well considering I’m a married with a 4 month old kid, I know nothing of any other “trojan” products.

I have always gotten mine at the Interstate Building on 85th in Brooklyn Park. I ahve never had a issue with the batteries. They hold the charge for 8+ hours a days bass fishing and the service it top notch.

    Just my two cents

What is the honest advantage of a Trojan battery?

Are they not 3 times the price of a regular battery? Yet they are only possibly good for maybe double the life???

Good question Gary as that is something I am pondering right now. I bought two Trojan SCS200’s two years ago from Gander Mountain here in LaCrosse for $89.95 apiece. At the end of last season one of them would no longer hold a charge. Tester says that it has a short in it so I need a new one.

I know it has a two year warranty on it but I can’t find the stinkin’ receipt anywhere and Gander won’t exchange it without the receipt. The price for a new one is $149.95!! I can’t believe they went up in price that much in only two years.

I know it’s my fault for losing the receipt but I am ticked that the GM boys wouldn’t work with me a bit on getting a new one.

I don’t want to drop $150 bucks for a new battery so I’m just going with something cheaper (Northern Battery from Power House Marine). I guess I’ll find out if the more expensive battery is worth it.

    Thanks,

    Curt
