Anyone have a better way of spooling there open face reels, been having a hard time lately for some darn reason I am getting more line twist.

Most of the time I lay the spool in the ground, label facing up, thread it through a few eyelet and start reeling while keeping tension on the line. Most of the time this works great.
If I happen to get line twist whole out on the water, I troll the line behind the boat without a lure for a short distance. That always clear up line twist.
Here’s what I do….start spooling with the spool sticker up, after 15 turns grab the line in each hand between your finger and thumb, about a foot apart. Move your hands together, if the line twists flip the spool over and repeat. Still twists, spool it up with a pencil through the spool, line coming off top of spool, repeat. Then try the line coming off the bottom of the spool. One of the 4 directions will cause the least amount of line twist, spool that direction. Cheaper lines seem to have more twist no matter what direction you go. There are times I can’t get a good spooling no matter what I do! Those cases, after I’m all spooled up I’ll go out in the boat, turn the trolling motor on and let all the line out without a lure on the end. Then as I reel the line in I keep the rod tip high and get some air under the line. That helps get rid of the twist. I often do this with all my spinning reels half way through the season, it helps.
Looks like slider beat me 2 it!

You can always get rid of the line twist on the water too, just let out a bunch of line let it drift out behind the boat troll along a short ways and reel it back it, you should be twist free, I had a couple spools spooled for me, man were they twisted, I did this, never had another issue.
I always have someone else hold the spool on a pen or screwdriver, etc. The person holding it can put some tension on the line(pressure on the spool) which will make your line lay ont he spool better, and pre-stretch the line.
Wen spooling, stop occasionaly to see if its twisting, if it is, flip the spool. As others have said, if you have a twisted spool of line, troll it behind the boat with no weight on it and it will come out. Be sure to put pressure on the line near the reel as you reel the line back onto the spool. This also works on land… walk the line out a distance rather than troll it. Reel the line back in while pinching the line between your fingers by the reel, the twist will work out.
Soak the spool of line in luke warm water for about 10 minutes before reeling line onto reel. Give it try, just about eliminates initial twist.
The line should come off the line spool in the same direction it`s reeled on. This for me has eliminated just about all line twist with new line.
