I am having a problem with my power trim. The motor is running when i hit the trim button both on the steering column and on the motor itself. Although the motor will not lift up nor down. Any Thoughts?

Your seals may possibly blown out from age. I had one go out yet it would lift the motor but slowly dropped but if they are cracked up bad enough they wont even lift it..Any fluid leaqking around the unit?

Sounds like you blew a fuse.

No power….it could be the trim/tilt solenoid(s). Might need a “bump” to break it loose or it’s(they) shot. If you have power to it but nothing moves…then the pump oil level is down or seals are shot or ??

I ain’t a mech a nech but that’s what I recall the techs saying when this has come up up over the years.

If the trim motor runs when a button is pushed, you should check the trim unit for a loose screw that may be about the same size as the plug to drain the lower unit. Most t&t units have a bypass valve that you can use to position the motor in the event the unit quits, should be able to check by trying to raise the motor by grabbing the lower and pulling on it. You could check fluid level

Thanks for all the suggestions. All i had to do was turn the screw on the manual relief valve. That allowed me to lower the motor. Then the trim started working after i tightened the relief valve back up. Everything is well.
