leaky lower unit

    hey all,

    i’ve got an older 25hp evinrude that leaks oil out of the lower unit . i found the hole that it comes out of and it’s not very big but i still drips quite a bit.

    what would you guys suggest using to patch the hole with? nothing i’ve tried has worked very long.

    You might try some of that liquid alum.from the auto store.but you should find a housing for it from a used motor store.Iknow there is one in the cities but cant remember the name.good luck and keep an eye on it so it wont go dry.

    Jake,

    I’d check with someone that rebuilds lower units/props and see if it’s possible to have this hole welded. Welding would probably be a lot cheaper than a new housing and more permanent than other types of patches.
