I’ve been evaluating a few different boats. Does anyone have any experience with Alumacraft’s Dominator 165 CS? Any other comparable makers/models that may be worth investigating?

I see several of these boats at the resort,Brian…..very happy customers with that purchase. The next size up however might give you a little better ride and a bit more bow room if you fish up front much.Good Luck!

    brian,
I had a Dominator in 1992, with an Evin 60 tiller on the back. I was a great boat, and I wished I had it back, even after I sold it 2 years later.

I run a 16′ Dominator that is a 96′. Not a bad boat for fit and finish, just wish it had a wider beam. Not the biggest boat on the water, especially if you are hitting bigger waters (Mille Lacs, Leech, etc.). Other then that, I can’t really complain.

Mine is a few years older, so the newer models may be slightly different.

I have a 2004 175CS Navigator and love it! The dominator was not made that year, so couldn’t consider it for purchase. Looks great and has some neat features for the price. For a multispecies boat, sure seems like a winner and would be a good “middle ground” boat for small and big waters. Just my .02 cents.

    Brian,
I have a 1991 Dominator,I love the boat!I would liken it to a slightly smaller version of a tourniment pro(It doesn’t quite have all the bells and whistles).IMHO they are a great boat.

I used to have a Dominator with a 60 hp Mercury tiller. I believe it was a ’90 or ’91. I really liked the boat. Thought it was a lot of boat for the money. I had that boat on lots of different waters including big puddles like Mille Lacs, Pepin, Big Stone, and Little Bay de Noc. Granted, it wasn’t an ideal big water boat, but it handled everything I threw at it. If I ever go back to aluminum, I sure like my glass boat, I’ll definitely look at the Alumacraft lineup.

    Brian,

I baught a new Dominator 175CS new last year and love it. I have a 140 4 stroke on the back. I really cannot say anything bad about the boat.

I have a 165cs Navigator very much like the Dominator. I love it!!! When I wanted a few more interior lights I called alumacraft and got a human right away. Parts were ordered in 5 minutes and at my house in 2 days!!!! Get that with a Brunswick product! Great ride for being 16ft long. I do wish the 165cs was rated for a 115 though. I have a 90 etec and 36-37 is top speed. Then the 17ft is rated for a 150 $$$$$.
