possible yamaha 90 2 stroke problem

I have a new boat with a yamaha 90 and I am concerned about the way it idles. I’ve put maybe 20 hrs on this motor and even when I first took it out I was hearing an occasional pwhoosh sound every so often when the engine apparently miss fired. This also happens when one tries to troll.

Is this normal? My old 73 65 hp Johnson used to just stall out and I thought that after 30 years they might have improved how a 2 stroke runs when idling.

I guess I wished I could have come up with the extra to put a 115 4 stroke but hind sight is 20/20. Oh well. I’m sure I’ll feel better once I can afford to throw a kicker on the boat.

Well I brought the boat in to let the dealers mechanic have a look. Turns out the idle was adjusted a little low and the mixture was a little lean. So after making those adjustments and running it in the tank for 10 min or more it looks like the problem has gone away so I should be all set. Now to start saving for that kicker.
