I am changing from a 24 volt to a 36 volt trolling motor. Besides adding another battery is there anything else I need to do? New breaker? I have a three bank on board charger. Would it be best to have it charge all three trolling motor batteries and use a separate charger for the cranking battery? What have you guys done/ I really don’t want to change to a four bank. Also has anyone posted any instructions on changing a trolling motor? I am staying with Minn kota maxxum will I need to drill any new holes ect..? Thanks for the help guys

When you add the third battery, you will need to add another jumper with a breaker. You should also charge your trolling motor batteries together with the three bank on board. Charge your starting motor battery with a seperate charger.

Depending on what Minnkota you had before, you may not need to drill any new holes. When I went from an 80 to a 101, I did not have to drill any new holes. If the holes do not line up, put the back two bolts in first and then drill out the front ones.

    Hope this helps.

When you get your 36-volt motor it will come with cables for connecting between the batteries. You will see that circuit breakers are already installed in these cables.

If you’re like me….”clueless” on this kinda stuff….I’d go to a marine tech and have him hook it all up. Otherwise sparks fly. Something on the motor gets fried. Or??

Bring the batteries and all to a dealer and get it done right….from the start.

Gotta agree with Steve. Unless you know electicity or hve someone help you onsite you can get into big trouble with those size batteries.
