What do you guys think of the Minnkota Copilot? I have a Powerdrive 24V 65lbs….works good but the foot pedal is about to die(second one) Was thinking of getting the Copilot. Can you use the foot pedal and the remote at the same time? Is it practical to use? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

    Yes, 2 thumbs up

And yes you can use the foot pedal and co-pilot at the same time. When you step on the foot pedal, it overrides the co-pilot. Nice little add on. Worth the money.

I have the same PD and a co-pilot. I rarely even bring my foot pedal anymore. The only reason is to have a spare or to take advantage of the slider speed on the pedal which is much more adjustable. The co-pilot has 10 speed settings. I wish I had 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, etc. other than that I really like it.

how about the speed control between the two? If the foot pedal is at 100% and you slow down with the remote to 5% and drop the remote in the water are you stuck there at 5%?

No. Also, the remotes are water proof and float!

Personally You need a pedal I find the 10% increments to change speed are sometimes too big or too small, a pedal will give you more control (speed wise), the times you need it, normally the co pilot works for me 85% of the time. I always have my pedal as a back up either way.

Still one of the single best thing’s I’ve ever bought for fishing

I love to use my co-pilot when I am trolling to help keep my boat pointed in the right direction . I am going to really have to look at my set-up because I have been only using either my pedal or my co-pilot as I have been using the same pigtail off of my trolling motor for the two connections. I am going to have to check that out to see what I am missing .

I don’t like using my all the time but for the times that I do use it, it has been well worth the money .

Zach, I’m not following you on this. At the unit where the foot pedal plugs in, take that and hook it up to your co-pilot, then from the co-pilot the other plug is for your foot pedal. Other than power wires, the only other wire should be for sonar if the motor came with it. Explain what you have going on?

I love my wireless co-pilot with auto pilot. I never use my foot pedal. I fish from the back of the boat and my foot pedal reaches back there if needed.

I didn’t know that I could run my pedal through my co-pilot I have just been running it directly to the motor itself Thanks for the help

Zach, There is a second connector on the unit. It is covered by a back rubber when you first install it.

    I love my CP!

Seriously you’ll love it, to date I’ve only seen about 3 people that didn’t like it.

I had a buddy giving me a bunch of crap when he found out I had a wireless remote for my trolling motor, saying it was “toy” took him about 10 minutes to say to me after getting the chance to use it, it was really cool. I hate that they are so expensive, but they work so nice, what are you going to do?

You will wonder why you did not get it right away, its great to be able to run the motor from anywhere in the boat and to have a back up in case your peddle fails.

Hi all this is my first time on the sight and wow they have a ton of info. on here. After reading this I thought that I would share. I have a minn. power drive and I use the Re-action system docking station for great boat control and I love it. Just wondering if anyone else uses the System?

I did a little research, here is what I found:

The Re-Action® System docking station fits your existing Minn Kota® MicroTouch® corded foot pedal. The trolling motor operator sets the desired “Compensation Speed” on the Re-Action® System. When wind gusts or water currents cause a need for an increase in motor speed, the operator presses and holds down their foot pedal tap switch. The trolling motor speed is immediately increased to the new “Compensation Speed” level previously selected by the operator. Once the variation in wind and water speed subsides, the operator simply releases the tap switch and the motor returns to the base speed setting. Now you have total boat control. $235

It seems a little spendy….but I like the Idea. Minnkota should just build that into the foot control

The Re-action system over rides your existing system. It lets you ride at a what ever speed you want to and gives you the option to set a second speed for repostioning your boat. What I really like about the Re-action system is that it saves the life of my batteries (big + for me).I wouldn’t hit the water without it now that I have used it

I believe it is now integrated into the wireless remotes for the Terrova.

It wasn’t bad dollar wise $250.00 and for that matter set up was only about 10/15 minutes. That I really liked.

With my old minnkota I always had trouble after landing the fish….not paying attention to were I was headed. Got the pilot so I would stay on track. Love it.

Highly recommended here…rarely use foot control as well.

    Word of caution tho-

Me and a buddy rigged ours up in our boats at the same time just before our trip to LOW.

Second day into the trip mine started “acting up”.

Puttin along proudly with my transmitter, steering flawlessly with minimal effort….then it happened.

The unit became possessed. Started out in one direction then suddenly a sharp left turn at a high rate of speed. I corrected it then a sharp turn the other way into a death spiral.

This occured intermittently for 2 days up there and I was flaming trying to think of how to fix it when suddenly an outburst of extreme laughter occured from within my boat and the other 2 boats that were with us.

While I was in the shower the day before, he programmed his extra transmitter to work on my Co-Pilot. Everytime he came within range of me ….well you can figger the rest out..

Pert-near cut him up for bait that afternoon.
