usually 12-14 lb Trilene Xt or big game clear. It works very well for me. This year I am going to be trying silver thread 12 lb green and we’ll just have to see how that goes

I’ll second that. 12-14 lb Trilene Xt would be my choice as well. Very good line that stands up to the test.

Many different answers to your questions, primarily due to many different presentations, and species.

First off, what species are you targeting? Bass, walleyes, etc?

Also, are you fishing rock, wingdams/river, weed beds, deep water, shallow water, wood/timber?

I think a 12lb Trilene XT would probably serve you good all the way around.

Abrasion resistant and tough enough around timber, yet still limber enough to cast.

I have Sufix on a couple rods. No complaints so far Most of my crank rods have Power Pro though due to toothy critters in the bass spots

Forgot to mention stren. Its pretty good. I was using stren florescent blue on my spinning rod for 2 full seasons and it stayed good! i didn’t use it for cranks much, but it would have worked fine I think.

I use Power Pro on all of my reels. I jig with the 15# strength without experiencing line twist – especially in Canada. Line twist is one of my top pet peaves. I landed a 25# northern last year on that set-up. I will tie a 6-8# mono leader if the fish are finicky.

I use Cajun Red and love that stuff. Excellant knot strength and low memory. Every rod is spooled up with it except for my slop and pitch/flip rod.

Trilene XL. When throwing cranks I want the strech. Size of line is usually dictated by the crank of the day. If I had to choose 1 for all apps it would be 12 to 14#.

14lb.Fire line is very versatile in my book as long as you check for abrasions. The new Fireline “crystal” looks promising-can’t wait to try it out this season.

I experience line twist from real set when not used very often. If you pull the line thru the water without anything on it, it will straighten it out. Just leave a foot or two of line out and stick the tip in the water while the boat is moveing. Drag it a couple hundred yards and real it up.
I use power pro, fireline and spider wire the most. I do like the old stren color mono for the visablity. Fireline seams to fade easy.

Power Pro for casting cranks I don’t use Power Pro for anything else, but for casting cranks it is tough to beat in my opinion. 4/14 Is what I use I believe. I know the 6/20 is to heavy, I have tried it plenty without much luck.

ive tried alot of lines while fishing, jonthan knows what is on almost all my reels… sufix cause i brag about it all the time. its the best line i have ever used. i used to use a lot of bereklys line until i had on vanish and i casted off about 4 lures and found out how much it sucked, so i went to sufix and will never use anything else. just my 2 cents.

After reading Scott’s post, I should have noted I use it for pitching, jigging and dragging blades and ringies and hair jigs. I use the Elite for slip bobber applications and rigging in clear water.
46 year old eyes really appreciate the colored line when tying jigs on!
