Looking for some help from the IDA family . I’m looking to add another graph to my boat and I think I’ve narrowed it down to the 16 or the 17. This won’t be the only graph on the boat as I currently have the 110, but this would be for the bow. I’m trying to find out the major differences between the two. I realize one has color and the other is grey. But I noticed one has the WAAS and the other doesn’t list that in the description. I went to Lowrance and they don’t list the 16 as a current unit .

Any input would be greatly appreciated .

    See you on the water!

The 16 has been d/c for a long time now. If you’re going to use it for sonar only, I’d go with that one over the 17 for color. I’m curious why you have narrowed it down to two discontinued units, unless you have an incredible price on them? Whatever you choose, I would go with color. Again, if you’re only in need of sonar and not GPS, you can get a brand new 2007 color Lowrance for around $450. If you were wanting sonar/GPS combo, you can get a color combo for a little over $600.

I’m not trying to talk you out of your current choices, but I want to make sure you’re aware that they are both discontinued units.

    Wade,

Here are my choices and the prices… All of these come with GPS & the Transducer. I broke the bank when I bought the 110 last year so I’m trying to keep the Money police (my wife) away from my fishing budget.

    LX 15- $269

    LX 16-$299

    LX 17- $349

First, are these priced right? Second, which one would you buy?

    Thanks!

May I ask were you are getting these units for that price. I’m also looking for a gps combo and that price sounds good.

I’d go with the color unit. The prices seem fair to me. But I’d still think about going with the LMS-520C at $449. You can use your 110C to supply GPS to the LMS-520C.

Can I also ask where you guys are finding those prices? I’m looking to pick up my first sonar/gps combo unit! Thanks!

    Wade,
Thanks for your help. I would love to jump up to the unit you’re recommending except the wife has me on a strict budget ($300 or less). I was actually looking for a used unit on IDA and came acrossed the deal that I mentioned earler.

on another note, can you help me with the new Navonics North Chip?

Thanks Shadrap! I understand budgets… and wives!

That 16 was a great unit back in the day. I remember that thing being a couple grand! It’s amazing how things go in the electronics business. At least things are getting more affordable for all of us.

I do have the new Navionics Premium North 2007 chips in stock if you need one. Click here to see our Navionics product page. For your Lowrance, you need the “SD” format.

I have the LX 17, love it. But I wish I had spent the extra buck for color. Especially since I now see I could have purchased a nice color GPS combo for what I paid for the 17. Good luck in your purchase.
