Batter Paranoia

I’ve been thinking of getting a switch for the main battery. Anyone else use one of these?

The main reason I want one is for convenience. When I’m not in the boat, I usually disconnect the positive terminal because in the past I’ve had a trolling motor short and light up on me. I’d hate to have the wiring for the main cable going back to the outboard do the same.

As far as I know, I’m about the only person who disconnects every time out. Is this unwarranted paranoia on my part?

And now I see I missed a “y” in the title. A little tired? Think so!

I’ve never heard of a problem coming from leaving the power supply connected during storage. I wouldn’t worry about it too much but then, if it brings you piece of mind, install one of those battery disconnect switches that operate with a simple quarter turn and sleep easy.
