Problem with Aqua-Vu?

I’m having a problem with my Aqua-Vu unit and was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar: as I’m using it, the view screen will slowly fade to dark and then come back to an ok display (kind of faint and not as clear as it once was). The last time I tried using it, it went thru several iterations of the above and then I gave up on it. I’m wondering if it’s a problem with the battery or the camera or ?
    Thanks,
    Mac

I don’t know much about Aqua Vu cameras but it does sound like a battery issue. Is the battery fully charged and does it do this all the time?

    Scott,
It’s been awhile since I tried it (I’m not much of an ice fisherman ). I did try charging the battery numerous times toward the end of the softwater season last year and it did not work properly the last 3-4 times I was on the water.

I’ve had similar problems with my camera (old school Vista). The Battery was 1 cause. But about a year later it was doing -(pretty much)- same thing with a full charge.
After a long process of elimentation I found the camera cable/housing was leaking. I took a tube of marine caulk/putty and doused all around the cable and camera housing and it has worked fine ever since..

Those batteries are cheap so you may want to try another battery first. If that is not it, I have no idea and you may have to contact Nature Vision.

I agree with Scott’s suggestion, try a new or different battery.

I also like Marcum’s DCS for charging, it has a digital display to tell you battery percentage left, it also allows you to plug the battery in and forget about it, it won’t overcharge (which I think kills a lot of people’s batteries), and always lets you know where you stand battery wise, I’ve found them at major stores (gander) on the shelf, they run around $30, and good investment IMHO for those $15-20 batteries that see limited use from most people. (I use mine year round) I picked one up for my aqua-vu.

Double check your cable connections. make sure prongs are good!

    Otherwise—–sounds like a battery!

    Cal,
I have a brand new battery you can borrow and see if it works okay, before you go out and buy a new battery.
    Jack..

Hey guys. Thanks for all the suggestions, especially the tip about the Marcum charger. I’ve always wondered about the Aqua-Vu charger as it has no indication of battery level or charge. Jack, I’ll take you up on that offer. Thanks again everyone!

I’m way ahead of you, Gary. I decided we’d better meet at a neutral site for breakfast (Denny’s) so I don’t have to talk so much fishin’ Yeah, right! I’ve known Jack for many, many years thru the MVIF club. A great guy and a super fisherman!
