Whats the difference between the new chip and the older ones? More lakes, better or updated graphics/contour? I am specifically looking at Mille Lacs. I already have an older version and want to know if i should upgrade.

As a new lakemaster owner, I think that the answer is (a) more lakes with some coverage that leaks into neighboring states, and (b) more survey lakes. I sure did enjoy using mine on the Whitefish chain a few weeks ago.

Do most of you guys just leave your chips in all the time? I do. I like the road maps a lot better than the map that came on the H2o. POI’s are nice too.

If you mainly fish Mille Lacs, they did not resurvey so there is no reason to upgrade. The new chips do load faster though. Unless you fish the new lakes that they surveyed I do not see a reason to get the new chip.
I do get a new one every year buy that is just me as I am a map nut, always need the newest and best.

The only time I take my chip out is to put in different one
Much better road and background maps.

The New Lakemaster Chip is much slower then the Old one.

Slider, the new chip has a little more info from Mille Lacs than the old one. Not many, if any contour changes but a few more reefs and flats have names. Adam

We have a contraditcion in this post on the new chip vs old. I know the new SD is a 128M vs 64M for the old one. That in itself indicates more data although the 128M SD may not be full. Is the 2007 really slower than the 2006?

If the new chip is slower than the old one, then the old one must have been BLAZING fast.

I’ve used the new chip in my 332C and my 25C. I’ve yet to experience any sort of significant delay in updating a position while moving (in a car at 55 mph) or in zooming in on depth contours on a lake. I am very satisfied with the chip’s performance in each of these two units.

The new chips have more info on them but I have not noticed that they are slower. All chips are slower in a handheld but the Lakemaster Chips are all fast when compared to the many other chips I have.

The New Lakemaster Chip refreshes slower than the original chip in my H2O.

It may not bother some but it is noticeable and is irritating to me so irritating I Bought the old chip and will keep both.
