Does anyone have the Clam 5600? If so, how do you like it? How does it pull? I know the size and the hole set up(which I’m not thrilled with). Do you think it would be possible to add a couple holes into the floor? Easy set up? ANY info would be greatly appreciated!! Need to decide on a new house. The old Snowboat is on it’s last leg.
    Thanks!!

Didn’t have a clam, but I’ve had “suitcase” style houses, they are nice if all you do is plan to go out and sit on one spot and fish, they suck if you want to move around. Gotta take all you gear back out of the house load it up move, reload and repeat. Get tiring pretty fast, and I found I sat on unproductive areas longer, because I didn’t want to move. To each their own, just some of my impressions.

I just sold mine – but not for bad reasons(needed more room for growing family). I really liked it for anytime that you can drive a vehicle out. It set up easy, heated easy, and was a very comfortable 2 person shack. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

One thing to note, though – is that it is ideal for setting up and staying put. The sled/flipover models are the way to go for lots of mobility.

I have a 5600, and I love it. I bought the older model used from a guy, it has the zipper that goes from top to bottom, not like the new style that’s shaped like a backwards “D”. I personally like the older model because you don’t have to step up and over. Moving it on ice is easy with spikes on, BUT- on snow is a completely different animal, it sucks. But if you can drive out to where you’re setting up, it’s all good.

I love my uncles old 5600, once you get past the mouse holes and blue duct tape patch job it is a great shack. It is pretty easy to set up, i wouldn’t suggest it if you like to stay portable and like to go places fast. This is almost the size of a permanent shack which is great as far as room when you get inside also heating is easier in these shacks i believe. but the only down fall is portability and set up you can not set it up as fast as a flip over. hope this helps you out.
