I may have the oppertunity to purchase a 115 seahorse Johnson 4 stroke. I was told it was one of there first Generation 4 strokers (1996?). Has anyone had good or bad experiences with them? I would really be interested in hearing pros and cons.
    Thanks

Johnson/Evinrude did not make a 115 four stroke in 1996

The Older Guy I talked with said it was 7-8 years old.
I was guessing at 96. When did they make a 4 stroke?
He could also be saying a 4 stroke when he means a 4 cylinder?
    Help me out please
    Thanks

The Seahorse isn’t a four stroke. The four strokes have only been out a couple years I believe. The 115 must be the 2 stroke motor as those are the Seahorse models. In 1995, I believe, they came out with a different version of the 2 stroke 90 and 115 models. Not as big in size and had more power. Thanks, Bill

Bill, I believe at least the 115 in 1995/6 was the new 60 degree V4 which they called FastStrikes, and those definitely were carb model 2 strokers.

You are correct Frank. They also had a non Faststrike model for pleasure boats, water skiers etc. who didn’t want the high performance model. But sold more Faststrikes I believe. They were a smaller size body with alot of punch motors. Thanks, Bill

Thanks for the help guys, Now with that being the case (2 stroke) are they generally a good motor?
My guess would be yes cause they have been around for a bit.
Can you offer any other advise?
    Thanks again
