    Looking at three
    Hummingbird 777c2
    Eagle Fishmark 640c
    Lowrance x510c

Any opinions on what the best unit is? Wade? What differences are there? Thanks for the help.

I have a lot of confidence in Lowrance sonar so until I get a chance to use more Humminbird units, I will be biased toward Lowrance. One thing I know, you will not be disappointed in the Lowrance unit.

That said, I like what I am seeing and hearing about Humminbird units since Johnson Outdoors purchased the manufacturer. Theyre good-looking units and they are developing a solid reputation.

I am a Lowrance guy myself but the Humminbirds have redeemed themselves in my eyes. Ever since they bought that Liquid Paper Graph company, they’ve made improvements.

I would still take lowrance for GPS units (especially for their wide range of mapping chips) and their sonar is hard to beat but Humminbird is there now so if you like it, I don’t think it would be a bad decision.

Eagle units usually don’t have the back-lit LCD so on color units, reading them during the day can be tough.

I was in that same situation, and after looking at prices, features I would use, convienece of use, etc. I decided to pickup a Lowrance LMS520. If the da#@ factory would send them out already.

IMO they are the easiest to use, with the most help if you have any problems. It does not hurt to have Wade here to help with any problems either

You can go 520C without GPS and have the same features, no problem.

Yes. You would add the LGC-3000 GPS module which runs about $200.

I have to agree with Wade on this one. Hummingbird has some great features in there new units but I don’t think they are comparable to the Lowrance units, yet. Not saying they never will. Go with the Lowrance, you won’t be disapointed. Not to mention Wade probably has them in stock.

I have an eagle sonar with color and GPS, and I love it, IMO it is easily viewed even in the sunlight. I was on a bit of a budget when I bought mine and considered getting a b/w without gps thinking i could get by with my handheld gps, but I am darn glad I got the color and the gps now. I would have liked to go with Lowrance, but for my application the eagle did everything I needed and for a few hundred less. Good luck and happy fishing

I am a Lowrance/Eagle guy myself. It sounds like my youngest son Nate mught be running Hummingbird units this year. Minnkota owns them and has made a bunch of changes to them and the features they have look very interesting and exciting. He is very excited about the neat features these new units have. It will be interesting to see how he likes these units after running Lowrance for years.

    Thanks, Bill
