I am looking to get a linecounter reel for trolling this summer, and I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with these reels? There are quite a few of them for sale on eBay, and they are cheaper than the Diawa’s and Abu’s. I would imagine there is a reason for this…. I am wondering if they are just absolute junk, or if it’s more like a Skil vs. Bosch deal? I’m sure they wouldn’t hold up under a guiding/charter boat type useage, but for a few weekends a year, would they be good enough? I’d really appreciate any thoughts.
    Thanks-
    Greg

I use 2 and so far have held up well. Thinking about getting a couple bigger ones without the counters for lead.

They are very good reels and priced well. I think you would be happy with them.

I’ve had mine for 3 years. I don’t spend a lot of hours using it but it’s been very good.

I own 6. If you are only trolling Walleyes and are not often going to be pulling big bulky boards they will be great. I can tell you that the drags will wear a bit with time, but they work very well. Keep the spools filled if you want accurate readings on your line counters (that’s any brand).

Take measurements a few times per year at 50 or 100 feet so you can see how far off your counters are or if they even are off. Back to the original question, the 20s are much better than the 15’s I’ve had I had 2 15’s turn to junk on me but the 20’s have performed pretty well. Enjoy.

I’ve got 4 of the 15’s going on 4 yrs now without a problem. Okuma makes a good product.

I also have the Okuma line counting reels and have had good luck with them. I also have a bunch of their spinning reels and like them too.
    Thanks, Bill

Thanks also to eyetroller, but the ones on eBay are new. I do appreciate it, though.
